ProjectABOUT THE PROJECT
A fascinating international project with a taste of world jazz music, starting from the island of Sardinia and traveling through European Jazz, Africa, Brazil and the Mediterranean moods. The renowned Sardinian musician Enzo Favata, soprano sax & bass clarinet player is the band leader of the project and plays together with the guitarist Marcello Peghin, the double bass player Salvatore Maiore and the drummer and percussionist UT Gandhi.

ENZO FAVATA
His soprano sax and bass clarinet have a distinctive voice that he blends with live electronics and ethnic woodwind instruments.
In his long career he played with his projects in many prestigious festivals and stages around the world.
He played and recorded with great musicians: Dino Saluzzi, Enrico Rava, Miroslav Vitous, Mulatu Astatke, Sajnkho Namtchylak, Lester Bowie, the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Guinga, the Metropole Orkest, Dave Liebman, Omar Sosa, Jan Bang, Eivind Aarset, Django Bates, Paolo Vinaccia, Daniele Di Bonaventura, Danilo Gallo, Tenores di Bitti and Tenores di Orosei (megalithic voices of Sardinia), singer Dudu Manhenga, Hope Masike, Ivan Mazuze, Colin Steele and Dave Milligan and many others. Currently boast 16 CDs to his credit.
On 2017 JazzIT Awards he was nominated among the best 3 Italian jazz soprano players.
Favata is also the artistic director of the International Jazz Festival MUSICA SULLE BOCCHE, which has been held for 17 years in Santa Teresa Gallura (Sardinia) and is one of the most famous events of the Italian jazz scene, characterized both for its ever-innovative program as well as its sensitivity to topics such as environment and landscape.

MARCELLO PEGHIN
Sophisticated guitar player and composer, he skillfully plays both classical and improvised music. A virtuoso of the 10-string classical guitar, baritone guitar and viola caipira..
When he plays acoustic guitar his style is comparable to Egberto Gismonti, while his electric sound changes skin blending contemporary Nordic style with Mediterranean melodies.
Along his 30-years career he played worldwide and collaborated with renowned musicians like Dino Saluzzi, Enrico Rava, Tony Scott, Lester Bowie and Sainkho Namtchylak.
He released two CDs: “Goldberg Variations” and JS Bach “Well Tempered Harpsichord”, adapted for 10 string guitars. On 2017JazzIt Awards he was nominated among the best 10 Italian jazz guitarists.

SALVATORE MAIORE
Bass player and composer, among the most appreciated in the Italian and European scene.
He is currently a stable member of Stefano Battaglia’s trio with whom he recorded the albums “Re: Pasolini” in 2005, “The River of Anyder” in 2011 and “Songways” all of them with the ECM recordings.
He boasts a series of collaborations with musicians like Franco Cerri and Enrico Intra, Glauco Venier, Paolo Fresu, Kenny Wheeler’s Italian Project, Achille Succi’s Quartet, Trio Ammentos, Trio Amada, Duo with Achille Succi, Peo Alfonsi and Aegean Orchestra, Gabriele Mirabassi, Lee Konitz, Nguyèn Le, Billy Cobham, Franco D’Andrea, L. Butch Morris, Joseph Jarman, Steve Grossman, Cedar Walton, Eliot Zigmund, Gianluigi Trovesi, Luca Flores, Paolo Birro, Kyle Gregory, Roberto Dani, Jacques Pellen, Pietro Tonolo, Oliver Lake, Ralph Alessi, Chris Speed, Noa, Don Byron, Al Di Meola, Akira Tana, Gil Goldstein.
He has participated in more than 50 record releases and he is the director of the Jazz Department of Vicenza conservatory, where he also teaches double and electric bass.

UT GANDHI
Drummer, percussionist and composer, he has approached jazz in 1978.
For eight years he has been a member of Enrico Rava’s quintet “Electric Five”, touring in Italy and Europe, as well as Canada and Japan.
He has recorded several music projects for the German label ECM. Moreover, he collaborated on the composition of theater videos and soundtracks.
He has also his own records, some of which dedicated to the Weather Report.
